Cedarcrest has been chosen along with five other Washington State schools to receive one of eight reading grants from a $4.4 million program will help improve adolescent literacy.

OLYMPIA — October 13, 2009 -Washington is one of eight states to receive federal money to help struggling readers, the Department of Education announced last week. “The great thing about this project is that it assists us with one of my main priorities – to reduce the achievement gap and the dropout rate,” said Randy Dorn, state superintendent of public instruction. “Many studies have shown the importance of literacy in determining student success. By giving struggling readers additional help, we’ll not only keep them in school, we’ll help them be successful.”

The Puyallup and Federal Way Macy will be receiving boys uniform merchandise in the first - 3rd weeks of August. The assortment will consist of slacks in black and khaki and short sleeve polos that you may take to the Line Up store on 163rd and Pacific Avenue for the logo.  At this point they have not been able to secure pants for girls size 7-16 within the stores; however they do offer pants, skirts and polos on Macys.com.

Still Having trouble finding khaki or black slacks?
The CJH revised dress code is requiring no denim slacks for boys and girls. It appears to be easier finding slacks for boys than girls. For those who have experienced trouble finding suitable slacks for girls, K-Mart does carry female uniform pants by the maker Genuine Dickies.  Below is a link to their website showing the available choices.   They retail for $19.99 & will be on sale several times throughout the back-to-school season for $17.99.   They are available in Khaki & Black starting with size 3.  If you have students that are smaller than a size 3, the kids department also carries uniforms by the maker French Toast.
